Please don’t take any of that the wrong way- I am stressed but I thankful times a MILLION for the blessings that I am so undeserving of. I know the holidays are a time when so many are grieving and hurting and if you are suffering- my heart is heavy and it is with you. Finding JOY during times when there is PAIN is tough stuff and I wanted to acknowledge this.
Several months ago- I began a little “What What Wear” Series on Wednesdays and haven’t done a post like this in forever. In fact, my last post was back in April… So today, its a who I’m with, what I do (to stay sane over the holidays) and what I’m wearing kind of day 🙂
Here’s what I do to manage my holiday stress:
– Saying NO and not feeling the need to explain why.
Since I have my girls every other week- I tend to “hog” them on my weeks and maximize my time with them. They are growing so fast which excites and terrifies me and on my “weeks,” my time with them is most important, period.
– Every morning, I go into my closet (its carpeted there) and lay on my back with my knees bent for 5-10 minutes.
I learned about this thing- called the Alexander technique or more commonly “constructive resting position” about two years ago when I pulled a muscle in my lower back and have continued it daily. Laying on your back like this will reduce all kinds of tension, bring focus to your breathing, relax your “psoas” muscle and is just so therapeutic. This is probably one of my favorite ways to relax my body. My four year old niece saw me doing this one morning and said “hey aunt Jill, are you relaxing your psoas!!?” Girlfriend knows me well. Ha!
– I take daily ME time.
Because when I take a few minutes out for myself, everyone benefits. Lush bombs and baths are a little luxury that I don’t take for granted…
– I take a vitamin, a Probiotic, Omega Oil and vitamin C daily.
– I use my Young Living Oils- specifically my Frankincense, Lavender and Stress Away.
Those are my little tips- please, do share what helps keep you sane during the holiday season!
What I’m wearing
I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy for her weekly what I wore series… and I’ve been wearing things that can go from the office to classroom parties and then everything in between… basically, a cozy top with a vest or sweater and leggings with booties has been my uniform as of late 🙂
This little tunic is from Old Navy and is probably one of the comfiest tops that I picked up as an afterthought- glad I did. I sized up to make it extra roomy.
