It’s allllmost Friday 😉
This week has just flown by. And today’s post has me day dreaming about being back in the sun on the beach…
This was a panoramic I took at the top of Pinel Island
We had the best time on vacation!
Jason actually found a deal online and we booked the trip just three weeks out on a non kid week, of course. We’ve been to St Martin once before and stayed at the Sonesta Ocean Point and decided to stay at their sister resort to switch things up a bit.
Now, I’m no travel expert but as far as our hotel accommodations go- for what it’s worth, Jason and I both thought the hotel was “just ok.” Friendly enough service, good food, clean room, etc. (Not a five star but it was one of the only all inclusive resorts on the island and it was located on the beach- but IT WAS FILLED TO THE ULTIMATE MAX WITH KIDS.) For that reason alone- if you’re looking for a romantic, relaxing stay somewhere- I probably wouldn’t recommend this resort. We knew it was not an adults only going into it but we were totally unprepared for the amount of children staying there. We assumed most of the kiddos would be back in school after the holidays- but umm, no. Please don’t take this the wrong way,-I love kids- but when vacationing without our own, I prefer adult only 🙂 Soooo- that being said, we will probably not stay at the particular resort again but we were thankful to get away for a week and enjoy our time together.
The girls left all kinds of little notes for us 🙂 Its nice to get away… but I miss those girls so much.
And as promised…
|we read the note on the plane… 🙂 PS- a fabulous client of mine gave me a mani/pedi gift certificate- and I used it before our trip. My nails and toes are OPI’s “go with the lava flow” (shellac) and I was obsessed. It was a golden / coral sparkly color and felt “beachy.”
My nail polish color here.
I read this book and I will most likely never forget it. An excellent read- high recommend. Find it here.
Yahoooooo!!! We arrived safe and sound… and our luggage did not! That’s our carry on in the background. Our luggage was delivered to our hotel two days later.. so all was not lost 🙂
St Martin is famous for being able to watch airplanes take off and land right over the beach and since our resort was located right next to the airport- we were able to watch (and hear!!!!) tons of planes land. So cool!
The famous beach where the planes land- and our resort is in background (in the middle with orange-ish colored roof)
Unfortunately, since our luggage did not arrive for the first two days we were there- we hit up the local straw market for swim cover ups… (and I found this this yellow mustard leopard little number above- HA) and other essentials. Hope you noticed the sarcasm… because cute it was not. Not my color..
I wish I would have taken more pictures.. (or maybe just better ones of Jason and I…!!) but here are a few trip highlights…
This area was considered “downtown” St Martin and it was truly breathtaking. We decided that after our luggage wasn’t going to be there… a beverage was necessary 🙂
We walked up and down the streets near our resort and purchased white tops.. #matchingcouple
I took this selfie after we hiked up to the top of Pinel Island. Pinel Island is about an 8 min ferry ride from St Martin- and so worth it. The views were gorgeous.
One afternoon- we stopped in a cool restaurant that overlooked St Martin- and ate with roosters 🙂 We rented a car for the week and explored all the St Martin had to offer.
My husband in his element..
Here’s Sunset Beach- where the planes land. SO COOL!
… What a week we had.
Traveling is always an adventure.. but there is just no place like home…
